What can my agronomist do for me through the winter months?
by Ron O'Hanlon, President

If a Crop Scout is all you have hired, there is probably not much that
person can do for you through the winter months when the crops are dormant
and snow or rain makes conditions impossible for scouting any fields.
At Crop Quest, all of our full-time employee/owners are college-educated,
professional agronomists, either by college degree or by intensive training.
However, not only are they educated in the sciences of crop production,
but also in understanding the relationship of the economics of crop production
practices to profitability of the farmer's overall management plan.
One of the most important aspects of farming is knowing the cost of production.
We know at Crop Quest that if our clients are not making money with their
farming practices, they will soon go broke. Our agronomists spend a lot
of time running crop budgets for farmers at their request, to help them
maximize their economic yields. The objective of most farmers is not to
grow the highest yield, but to make the most dollars in profits for the
yield they grow. Ask your Crop Quest agronomist if you need assistance
in developing a cropping plan along with crop budgets during these cold
winter months.
